Crossed Plus One Hundred Variant Covers – Miscellaneous
Here are the Crossed Plus One Hundred variant covers that did not fit into any other series. These are listed roughly in the order they came out, with Taste Test first, then individual issues, then collected editions.

Crossed Plus One Hundred Taste Test “Human Flavor” variant cover (November 2014.) Taste Test is a preview issue containing excerpts from Moore’s script, Andrade’s pencils, etc. – see details at CPOH Taste Test page.
Crossed Plus One Hundred Taste Test (preview) “Crossed Flavor” variant cover (November 2014)
Crossed Plus One Hundred Taste Test “Signed Edition” variant cover (November 2014), limited to 500 copies.
This also a Taste Test “VIP” variant limited to 300 copies. The issue has no printed cover price – though currently available via the publisher’s website for $20.
Crossed with Ostrich art is part of Crossed Plus One Hundred No.1 deluxe collector box set (November 2014.) The artwork is from the CGC Numbered Edition variant cover for the CPOH Taste Test.
The CPOH bagged New World Order “extreme” adult content cover images are difficult to find online; the publisher’s website only shows the outer “extreme image inside” slip cover. The NWO variants are wrap artwork (across both front and back) as well as sold in sealed plastic bags. No.1 is on a video here and No.2 and 3 are here.
Crossed Plus One Hundred No.1 has an “American History X Pure Art” variant cover – which is available as part of CPOH bundle packages.
- The cover art is Andrade’s CPOH1 American History X wrap cover (with artwork reversed) – included on the CPOH timeline page.
Avatar publishes Red Crossed variants for most or all of its Crossed comics. These are available for every issue of Crossed Plus One Hundred, though they are retailer incentives and, though there’s no specified limited quantity, they are difficult to find in comics stores. There is no price printed on the front cover, but, as of 2019, they are available for $8 via the publisher’s website.

Corner of CPOH1 red “Leather Cover” variant – via ebay
There are a couple of CPOH1 variants with the same (photonegative) image:
- There is a basic “Leather Cover [red on black background]” variant – with no specified limited quantity. As of 2019, these are available for $19.99 via the publisher’s website. From ebay images, these are printed with just “Leather Cover” and no price shown. (There is an odd “red foil”
- There is also a “Leather Gold Foil” variant, limited to 500 copies, that the publisher’s website lists as sold out (though slabbed copies are still for sale – see below.) The images above appear to be pre-publication versions, where the printed issues appear with gold print on a black (perhaps very dark green) background.
This is (apparently) just one 500-copy variant that goes by a few names. The printed cover just states “Leather Cover.” It is also called “Signature Series Forest Green Leather” and “Gold Foil Green Leather Edition” and “CGC Numbered Leather Edition.” The publisher currently sells signed copies in CGC grades 10 or 9.9 and unsigned CGG 10 or 9.9.
This blogger purchased a signed copy of the Leather Cover variant during Avatar Press’ 2015 “Virtual Comic Con” sale of comics signed by Alan Moore.
According to RecalledComics.com, there was some controversy over how Avatar apparently kept high CGC grade copies to sell later.
Bleeding Cool No.14 – Crossed Plus One Hundred cover (January 2015)
- This issue has an excellent 11-page interview with Alan Moore, not available on-line. I’ve included a few interview quotes in my CPOH annotations – see CPOH1 P1,p1 notes for example.
- The Bleeding Cool 14 artwork resurfaced on the CPOH: Mimic 1 Century (of Blood) variant cover.
- Accompanying the interview, there are Gabriel Andrade images – mostly capitionless pages from the beginning of CPOH1. One interesting thing is there is a version of the cover of CPOH1, but without the logo, so we can see some additional detail – more book titles! (See CPOH1 annotations for the original cover and all the other legible book titles.)
-
Additional Legible book titles include:
– “PHILIP K DICK” 2 copies here (another PKD book appears in CPOH1 P7,p3) – refers to science fiction writer Philip K. Dick.
– “DAN BROWN” 2 copies here (another below in the visible portion of the actual cover) – refers to Dan Brown the best-seller author of The DaVinci Code
– “OZ Clarke’s”
– “LIFE SWAP”
– “SECRET [LIFE??]”
Crossed Plus One Hundred Trade Hardback, Volume 1 – released in 2015 – collects CPOH 1-6
Crossed Plus One Hundred Trade paperback, Volume 1 – released in 2015 – collects CPOH 1-6

I can’t seem to find any information on your site about the exclusive cover that was made available during the 2015 Alan Moore Virtual Comic Convention. I wanted to submit the information for a specific book to an online price guide I use after finding they had no mention of it, only to realize I had mostly forgotten about the specifics from when I bought it. THEN I found an old Reddit where Joe on this site posted an image of the same signed gold foil on forest green Crossed Plus 100 #1. So I knew you were the guy to check with, because there is almost NO information online now that Avatar has deleted its pages about the sale and book. Outside of the Reddit I only found an article at recalledcomics.com that spoke about the green/gold cover as if it was ONLY available signed and graded. But clearly the copy you posted and my own came signed but unslabbed. So the numbers they list for how many copies exist (122) might not be entirely accurate as they seem to think they were all sent to CGC. Anyway, I thought you might want to add mention of the book to this blog for completions sake at any rate. (Unless it’s already here somewhere and I have just been lousy locating it) I’m also jealous that yours was signed in silver ink because mine was signed in black and it is very hard to notice immediately on the cover! Anyway thanks for all of the work you’ve put in here!

Good points (and sorry I somehow managed to miss your comment earlier) – I will dig that out and include it here… I confess that I am not much into tracking down variant covers… but I will add that one here.

I updated this page with a few more variants. Poking around the web, I think that there are 500 copies of the “green” (but actually looks black) Leather variant… but it could be possible that there are 500 green and 500 black?
